Sports Massage

The science and art of applying massage and related techniques to ensure the health and well-being of the athlete to enhance athletic performance.
-Understanding Sports Massage

Sports massage is designed for any individual physically active. It can be beneficial for firefighters, construction workers, weekend warriors, people involved in sports, fitness (professional and amateur), activities leading to overuse problems, etc. The main difference between a sports massage and any other type of massage is that it focuses on the muscle groups needed to perform specific movements or tasks. It is more interactive and active, unlike a classic relaxation massage.

In order to treat injuries, we will first meticulously assess the soft tissues affected, then use techniques and tools to treat your specific condition. Legacy therapeutics will also provide strengthening and stretching techniques at the end of your session for proper recovery and to prevent the injury from happening again.

Your body’s ability to heal is greater than what anyone has permitted you to believe. We use our skills and knowledge to promote this mechanism and remove the barriers that are holding you back.

Healing Through Movement

Healing is movement. Disease is inertis. If you put the body in motion, you will change.
- Gabrielle Roth

At Legacy Therapeutics, healing is more than just a concept; it’s a dynamic process fueled by movement and vitality. We believe that true wellness is achieved through the harmonious integration of mind, body, and spirit.

We embrace the profound wisdom that “healing is movement” and “disease is inactivity.” This means that the key to unlocking your body’s innate healing potential lies in staying active and engaged. Our holistic approach to therapy goes beyond mere relaxation; it’s about including transformative movement patterns that restore balance and vitality to your life.

Our sessions are designed to ignite your body’s natural healing response by incorporating targeted stretches and dynamic movements. By stimulating circulation, releasing tension, and enhancing flexibility, we empower your body to heal from within.

We understand that everyone is unique, which is why we tailor our treatments to address your specific needs and goals. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply seeking to optimize your well-being, our skilled therapists are here to support you every step of the way.

ASSESS

Patient satisfaction does not validate the effectiveness of the treatment. Many conditions can have similar symptoms. For instance, lower back pain can be caused by tight hip flexors, hamstrings, or even shoulder extensors. Finding the real cause of your complaint through an assessment help the therapist understand your condition in order to provide efficient treatment.

An assessment is not a diagnosis. It is a process of gathering information to determine the soft tissues that are most likely affected in an injury or dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. It may include a detailed questionnaire, range of motion, and manual resisted testing. An assessment can also be used to track improvement.

Legacy Therapeutics

CORRECT

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of soft body tissues and joints with the intent of relieving/preventing physical dysfunction/pain and developing, maintaining, improving physical function by acting on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems.

As a massage therapist, I think that recovery needs to match the level of training or activity of an individual. For that reason, I add to some of my treatments different tools such as Intermittent Pneumatic Compression device, Hypervolt, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization tools (IASTM), Cupping...
In regard to recovery, nothing can replace manual therapy and as far as tools are concerned, they should be used as helpers in order to speed up the recovery/healing process

Legacy Therapeutics

EDUCATE

"A healer is not someone that you go to for healing. A healer is someone that triggers within you, your own ability to heal yourself." Unknown

At the end of every session, I give feedback to my patients based on the observations I made. Treatment by itself is not enough to address the cause of the injury and recover completely. The problem will reoccur unless the affected structures get strengthened so that they can handle a higher level of stress. That is why I educate my clients about strengthening, mobility, and flexibility exercises.

As Dr. Dylan says, the key to a better living and better health are proper alignments, proper soft tissue support, proper neuromuscular connection, and knowing proper techniques.

INSURANCE

At Legacy Therapeutics, we accept nearly all major insurance plans for Massage Therapy services. However, please be aware that coverage may differ depending on your specific plan.
